Irene's coming: WWWAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

I don't usually do this here, but I just have to wail a little! I've had a really tough week, and now my neighborhood is under mandatory evacuation orders!! EVACUATION??!! The only good thing is that my sister and her kids are "stuck" extending their vacation in Tampa, so they are safely out of harm's way. Anyway, now I sort of understand all those people who won't leave their homes when a weather crisis is bearing down on them. I really don't want to go! However . . . time to go pack some books!

We've had our fair share of hurricanes here (I am just a bit southeast of New Orleans) and I can relate to what you are going through. Please stay safe!

I hope you and everyone else being evacuated will be okay! Irene's headed my way soon, so I better get by butt in gear and make sure my ereader is charged and my flashlight has batteries so I can read books in the dark! lol

Seems so odd, mandatory evacuations in New England. Careful driving however far they make you go. That may be more risky than what the hurrican can do. My grandmother is in NC near where many have come on shore in last 20 years, and has done fine by those. Never evacuated once.

Hope all is well for you. My sister was in the Virginia Tide water area that got hit. They have no power and there are trees down everywhere, but they took no major damage. The river area was under mandatory evacuation, but she was high enough not to have to leave. My brother on the other hand lives on the coast of CN and wasn't going to leave no matter what. Hope everything goes well for him. The rest of the family lives along Lake Champlain in NY. They will get the wind and rain. They are just recovering from the lake flooding, so the ground is already saturated. A recipe for flooding and downed trees.

Hope you don't have much clean up to do.
