Gwendolyn, your write-up is as beautiful as the novel. "Best seller" is echoing from the mountain top. I can't wait to see the movie. But then we'll miss out on Ann's great prose and the stunning voices of the women. But we'll still have great visuals!!
The cover shown here is the new cover. The other was too creepy for most taste. I love this cover and it truly tells the story of the book.
I am Ann's biggest fan...and her agent. I knew from the first paragraph of her first book, Beautiful Wreck, that she was a gifted writer. To find out she had five others on the cooling racks, almost ready to submit, I was ecstatic! I lost the manuscript for Ghost On Black Mountain on the LA freeway leaving the airport (I accidentally left it on top of my cousin’s car). I stopped 5 lanes of traffic and risked my life for that story. You can bet I am riding cloud nine with her! The next novel, The Barren Sign, takes place right up the road from where I live; Sapelo Island has its own family of haints and root doctors. If you have not been, you simply must. Get Ms. Francine, an 81 year old Geechee, to give you the tour. You will never forget it.
This story takes place not far from where we live. It sounds very true to the spirit and feeling of the area. A book I will have to look for. I will have to see if she will be doing signings anywhere close by.
