THE ARRIVALS
by Meg Mitchell Moore

Rules for entering this giveaway
are at the bottom of this post.

Pub. Date: May 2011
Publisher: Little, Brown & Company
Format: Hardcover, 324pp
ISBN-13: 9780316097710

Description (from the publisher):
It's early summer when Ginny and William's peaceful life in Vermont comes to an abrupt halt.

First, their daughter Lillian arrives, with her two children in tow, to escape her crumbling marriage. Next, their son Stephen and his pregnant wife Jane show up for a weekend visit, which extends indefinitely when Jane ends up on bed rest. When their youngest daughter Rachel appears, fleeing her difficult life in New York, Ginny and William find themselves consumed again by the chaos of parenthood - only this time around, their children are facing adult problems.

By summer's end, the family gains new ideas of loyalty and responsibility, exposing the challenges of surviving the modern family - and the old adage, once a parent, always a parent, has never rung so true.

I have had the urge lately to run home and live with my mother so the premise of this book is quite amusing to me! I could never actually do it, of course, as I have a husband and three children to take care of but it is an excape fantasy! please enter me..

I can so relate to this story. We don't have quite as chaotic mess, but we are at that stage of our lives. Our two daughters are in good marriages and the oldest will have her first child any time now. Daughter #2 lives just down the road from us and our lives overlap quite a bit. We baby sit her son frequently. She thinks it is quite funny that her older sister's child will be starting kindergarten the year her son graduates from high school. Our son, younger than his sisters by 7+ years is still at home (he is 28). He and his dad did build an apartment attached to the garage, so we both have our privacy. It works for both of us. His jobs don't pay well enough for him to afford to move out. We have a built in house & dog sitter and someone to help with the yard work.

I think I would enjoy this book.

This book intrigues me. I am interested to read how mom and dad cope with all of their grown children returning home, some with grandchildren in tow. It's an opportunity for the family to bond and help each other but it could be rather disastrous!

Thank you for hosting a giveaway of this book. Please include me in it!
