Format: Paperback , 544pp

ISBN: 1402259638

Description (from the publisher):
Violante isn’t supposed to be here, in one of the grandest courts of Renaissance Italy. She isn’t supposed to be a lady-in-waiting to the beautiful Lucrezia Borgia. But the same secretive politics that pushed Lucrezia’s father to the Vatican have landed Violante deep in a lavish landscape of passion and ambition.

Violante discovers a Lucrezia unknown to those who see only a scheming harlot, and all the whispers about her brother, Cesare Borgia, never revealed the soul of the man who dances close with Violante.

But those who enter the House of Borgia are never quite the same when they leave—if they leave at all. Violante’s place in history will test her heart and leave her the guardian of dangerous secrets she must carry to the grave.

About the author (from Amazon.com):
Sarah Bower teaches creative writing and was UK editor of the Historical Novels Review for two years until the beginning of 2006 when she stepped down to make more time for her own writing. Sarah lives in rural north Suffolk with her husband, two grown up sons, and two golden retrievers.

If asked that question in the past I would always say Regency England. But I am currently reading Outlander by by Diana Garabaldon and I am going to change my stock answer. Those Highlanders in Scottland are just too hot! So my new answer is Scottland, 1700's.
Thanks for the giveaway.

Unfortunately, I had to do some research to answer this question. The Victorian Era of the United Kingdom, I think. There was relative prosperity and peace.

I would like to have lived in Colorado in the late 1800s. It was an exciting time in the American West. The country was growing and developing. There was culture, industrialization was beginning, transportation was improving. One would have felt a part of a growing nation. Advances were being made in medicine.

I would have to say 69BC ish to 30Bc ish Cleopatra's time period. I think she is the most famous Queen. I have read a few book about her and have enjoyed them very much. Even today she still is influencing people, writers, movies and lets not forget makeup. To have known her and watch her come to power, to become the most powerful Queen not just Egypt but the most powerful Queen in the world.

I would have liked to have been alive during the time of Anne Boleyn, but only if I was a rich court lady! I am extremely intrigued by that time period, and by Anne in particular!
